At-Home Hair Dying Shenanagins and Clothes!

I had to go to Walgreen's today for a clinic appointment.

Won't go into all the gruesome details, but suffice it to say I have a Urinary Tract Infection and being on the Depo birth control shot has caused me to be on a mega-period that's lasted 2 weeks.

Both are unfortunate, but meh. Got antibiotics and pain pills that turn my piss bright orange...

Anyways, while I was waiting for my prescription to be filled, the boyfriend and I wandered about Walgreen's and ended up in my usual aisle: hair care.

We browsed the hair colors and eventually I impulse bought a bleaching kit, blonde hair dye, and John Frieda Blonde shampoo and conditioner.

We return home and I take about 50 billion pills for my UTI and then we're off! It's hair dying time.

BEFORE
It began as a fairly average hair dying experience.

Applied bleaching kit and read a magazine while waiting for my hair to magically whiten.

Made an insane mess in the process.

After the initial bleaching, I applied the blonde hair dye.

It did nothing except for sort of, kind of, not really minimize the orangeyness of the bleaching.

I then did a very bad thing.

I bleached my hair again.

And then, when I was not pleased with the white hair with strange pink streaks in it, I dyed it again.

My scalp burned like a motherfucker.

That should've been my first sign that I was doing something bad.

I did end up getting the color I wanted...

AFTER
It's a very pretty light, ash blonde. No yellow, no orange, no weird pink. Just white and sort of a grey color.

Unfortunately, my scalp is so damaged from dying/bleaching four times in one day.

I have big irritated areas where the skin is raw and painful and gross.

Dear god, what have I done now...

Despite killing my scalp and probably having all of my hair fall out, I did manage to fanangle a couple of shots out of the boyfriend so far.

Hopefully there are more to come.

  1. Ohh my goodness! Forget the scalp, my HAIR could barely handle one bleaching! I bleached, let it rest a week or two, then bleached again and used an ash-blonde toner. I had crispy plasticy feeling hair even with the recommended rest. If you can afford it, Ojon deep conditioner (It's some sort of palm oil) works wonders for damaged hair (you can even leave it on overnight, but it will get your pillowcase greasy). In any case, your final result looks fantastic!
