Busy Bee

Well I started the internship on Monday.

Everything, thankfully, got worked out.

My first day primarily consisted of stuffing, labeling, and sealing envelopes.

It was much less glamorous than this.

My morning ended with my tongue covered in a barrage of paper cuts, but I survived.

The afternoon brought even more fun...

Going to local businesses and trying to pawn off said envelopes, which included a 2-for-1 lunch coupon among their contents.

I was kind of hoping to avoid the whole door-to-door soliciting thing with this internship, but I guess "street promotion" has its place in marketing, too.

At the very least, I know that this is a legit marketing/PR firm because they're quite good at naming things to make them sound infinitely better than they are.

For example, my job title, as an intern, is "Account Coordinator."

Oooh la la. Important!

In all honesty, though, despite the envelope stuffing and "street promotion", I've enjoyed the rest of the my time working there.

It's been pretty basic tasks so far - data entry, scanning magazine and newspaper mentions of our clients, sending emails and making phone calls.

But I'm consistently busy throughout the day and feel like I'm helping out at least a small amount.

I like feeling productive, and I definitely feel that way when I'm done with my day.

I'm not really in with my cool coworkers yet, but I've been working on it.

I was entirely too dressed up for my first day, so I tried to tone it down for Wednesday and look more casual. I ended up just looking like a businessy slob.

I wore a dolman top and dress pants and it just looked bad by the end of the day.

I also need to work on the footwear situation.

When I got home from work on Monday, I literally thought my toes were going to fall off from being pinched all day in my fancy flats.

Wednesday I wore dressy sandals, but they just rubbed in weird places and were also uncomfortable.

I really need to find a pair of soft flats that will be comfortable all day.

Now that I'm home on my day off - I only work MWF - I have no idea what to do with myself.

I'm used to being busy all day now.

It's only 11:30 and I've already exhausted my options by cleaning the house, doing homework, watching television, and sewing all morning.

I suppose I'll find something to occupy myself.

I'll update soon about other things that have been going on!

A bientôt, lovelies.

  3. Fuck, I remember my days of envelope-stuffing for pocket money at Dad's work. I preferred assembling satellite dishes!
Pro Tip: Damp sponge. Get the right amount of dampness and you save your tongue :p

Best of luck for next week. I hope you find some good shoes! <3

  4. I need a MWF job like that. Keep fingers crossed for me.

I hate uncomfortable shoes and clothes. I can't seem to find anything that looks good, but is also comfortable. It's either one or the other. It sucks!

Hope next week is a good one! :)

Good luck finding nice, comfortable shoes! It's a difficult task, to be sure, but not impossible. ;)
