Thank you, lovelies

You ladies are the best good luck charm anyone could ever ask for.

Ever.

Guess who had an interview today?

And did awesome?

AND GOT THE INTERNSHIP?!

Girl, but whatever.

I did it!

I arrived super early, got lost trying to find the place, thanked god that I was so early that I had time to get lost, found the place, and then waited so that I wasn't too early for the interview.

Arrived at 8:40 am for the 9:00 am interview - the H.R. guy (who is also the co-owner/founder) says, "Well, the early bird sure gets the worm."

And then we were off.

Describe yourself.

I'm a senior-standing Marketing major at the University of [Insert Midwest State here]. Obviously, because I'm now in Florida, I'm taking classes online. I recently moved to South Florida with my boyfriend because he started med school. I'm looking for an internship in marketing and its related fields so that I can gain more experience in marketing before graduation and so that I can gain more course credit.

What's your greatest strength?

Loyalty - blahblahblah. Reliability and dependability - blahblahblah.

What's your greatest weakness?

Perfectionism - blahblahblah.

Do you have any questions about our company?

What do you think set your company apart that allowed you to become one of South Florida's "Best Places to Work" ?

What do you know about our company?

Discuss website, awards, clients, services, etc.

What's your availability like? Let's make a schedule for you!

Ahhhh yeahhhhh.

Obviously, there was a lot more to it than that.

But it was a pretty awesome interview.

The guy that interviewed me was really nice and professional, but still hip and young.

He was talking about "balance" in the office and said, "Well you can't be too strict because then you just look like an ass-hole."

When we were discussing reliability and how I believe successful workplaces are those where employees can depend on each other - I got a fist bump.

A fist bump.

I felt this cool.
Apparently their experience with interns is that they don't take the job seriously and aren't reliable.

I was told that I seem very serious-minded, business-focused, and professional.

That's better than a nervous wreck and a total spaz!

Unfortunately, the internship is unpaid and it's a 2 hour bus ride away.

On the bright side, it's only a 40 minute drive, but that requires a car...

I'm thinking about taking up an evening housekeeping job part time to help with expenses and avoid conflict with the internship position and school scheduling.

Here's to things finally starting to fall into place! :)

A bientôt, lovelies.

  1. I'm so glad you got the internship! I'm sure it'll be great for you to have something to get out of the house for, even if it is unpaid and the commute is less than desirable. It's great that it ties in so well with your studies, too! Gah, I'm excited for you. :)
